I needed to redo a partition, so I deleted everything off it, then deleted the logical partition (win 98), and reformatted it as an NTFS partition. Michael you should be able to boot with the win2k cd then enter the recovery console and fix your boot files i;ve done it with XP and the command is simply fixboot.
